He was in a '90's cult band', soul coughing, which I can already tell you, you will not like it. However, after his band split up he found religion and started playing on his own. He came out with an album a while back called Haughty Melodic. It is actualy pretty good. There are some really freaky songs, but a lot of really good ones too.
